أريد أن يكون اسمي شوكولا!

هذا ما قالته الطفلة الصغيرة المصابة بمتلازمة داون، كلّما رأت البنات يلعبن لعبة “نط الحبل” ويكررن الترنيمة: “بوظة، حليب، قشطة، فريز”

لكنها في كل مرة تشعر بالخجل وتبتعد لأنها تشعر بعدم قدرتها على مجاراتهن. تظل الترنيمة في بالها، تسمعها في كل حين؛ فتقرر أن تتدرب وتتدرب إلى أن تتقن اللعبة.

وفي أحد الأيام، تقترب من بنات الحي فينادينها… تتقدم وتنط معهن وتغني الترنيمة معهن… لكن هذه المرة تضيف اسما جميلا للترنيمة… شوكولا!

I want my name to be chocolate! This is what the little girl with Down syndrome said, whenever she saw the girls playing the game of “skipping rope” and repeating the chant: “Ice cream, milk, cream, strawberries.”

But every time she feels shy and turns away because she feels unable to keep up with them. The hymn remains in her mind, she hears it every once in a while and she decides to practice and practice until she masters the game.

One day, she approaches the girls of the neighbourhood and they call her... She steps forward and jumps with them and sings the hymn with them... But this time she adds a beautiful name to the hymn... Chocolate!

This fun story is about persistence, determination, sharing, friendship and the beauty within us!
